[net.rumor] DEC VNX withdrawn?

karen@twg.UUCP (Karen Auerbach) (08/10/84)

I have heard a rumor that DEC is withdrawing its VNX product?

I would appreciate hearing any confirmations, denials, or clarifications.

(For those of you who don't watch the DEC software world, VNX is DEC's
UN*X emulation software for use on the VAX/VMS operating system.)

Is this a rumor you've heard or one you're starting? :-)

This is a false rumor. The DEC/Shell, DEC's Bourne Shell that runs
under VMS has not been canceled. VNX which is a family of UN*X related
products running under VMS certainly has not been canceled. The
products in this family are as follows:

DEC/MMS	- make that runs under VMS
DEC/CMS - like SCCS
VAX-11 C - VMS C compiler
DEC/SHELL - Bourne Shell
