[net.rumor] Rainbows : The Real

hdt@sunybcs.UUCP (Howard D. Trachtman) (08/02/84)

While riding in a car with a friend, I saw a rainbow sticker on
a car and mentioned it to this friend. He seemed to know that it had
to do with people who had gone through some kind of marraige counseling,
and that it may also have some ties to the (Catholic) church.

Forgive me if I am wrong (or this has already been posted),

Well it must be real popular counseling because we have a specialty
store that sells nothing but rainbows and unicorns. Sort of reminds
me of a girl I knew in high school. Her boyfriend gave her a pendant
which was a stylized arrow pointing downward. After having to explain
the meaning of it (none) enough times she started telling people that
it signified her involvement in the American Indian Movement.

Q: What's the arrow for?

A: My boyfriend gave it to me. It's for A.I.M.

Q: Aim? ..

No, that's Marriage Encounter he's thinking of. Their rear-window sticker
is a pair of intertwined hearts - sort of hard to describe over the net.
The first ME groups were Catholic, but many other denominations have
adopted the idea. Non-denominational groups also exist.
