1. As a companion to Lauren Weinstein's "stargate" project, the uucp types at AT&T are arranging for net.announce to be broadcast over the War Department's Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) system in Wisconsin--the same system to be used to contact deeply-submerged nuclear-bomb-carrying submarines. The new site for handling the traffic is to be called "watergate". 2. Judge Harold Greene has mandated that the Bell symbol be stricken from the special font.
