Since the baseball season is finally in the thick of things I would really like to seem some more items posted concerning this sometimes exciting sport. I had the opportunity to see on the finest plays ever pulled off. Here it is. The game is Miami vs. Wichita State in the college world series. State has their finest base runner on first base (86 stolen bases for the year). The pitcher is straddling the rubber, turns to first and makes a wild throw. The base runner dives back to the bag. The first baseman makes a plunge at the ball. The players in the Miami dugout all start pointing down the first baseline. The Miami bullpen out in that area scatters to avoid the ball. The first baseman starts to chase the ball down. The base runner gets up and heads for second. The pitcher turns to second and casually throws the ball to second base for an easy out. Quite a play. Without a doubt one of the finest I have ever seen (saw it ESPN). Later, the coach of Wichita State claimed that the play was illegal because the Miami bat girl was also pointing down the first base line supposedly assisting the first baseman in finding the ball. Come on coach, be a sport. It was a great play and your runner and first base coach got burned. Simple as that.
