[net.sport.baseball] How to make 4 outs in a 3 out inning.

A week or so ago I asked out you could make a QUADRUPLE play.

Consider...
The opposition loads the bases with none out. The count is 3 and 2
and the runners on first and second break a little with the pitch
(this detail is added for pleasing verisimilitude). The batter hits a
soft liner to the second baseman. One out. The ball is thrown to
the shortstop who tags second before the runner gets back. Two out.
The ball is thrown to first before the runner gets back.

              A TRIPLE PLAY!

However...
The runner on third tags and crosses home before the ball gets to first
base. Because there is no force play, the run scores.

But...
The third baseman calls for the ball and tags third on an appeal play.
The umpire rules that the runner left the base before the line drive was
caught by the second baseman. The runner is out on the appeal, the run
does not count, and

              Voila! A QUADRUPLE PLAY!

This is apparently legal and scored this way. My source is
Boswell's "How Life Imitates The World Series".
