Here is the situation: The Sox and Yankees have played 7 complete innings and the score is Sox 5, Yankees 4. Clouds have hovered over Comiskey Park throughout the contest. In the top of the eighth, Nettles hits a homer to knot the score at 5. Winfield follows with a four bagger to give New York the lead. In the bottom of the frame with nobody on, Luzinski clouts the ball out of the park just as the clouds burst. The game is obviously going to be stopped after Luzinski rounds the bases. Problem: Should Luzinski stop at third so that the final score reverts back to the last completed inning, thereby ensuring victory for the Sox? Is he compelled by the rules to complete his trip around the bases to tie the score? In this case, did the fact that he hit a home run keep his team from winning the game?
