            Consider the following situation:
The bases are loaded with nobody out. Ricky
Henderson is on third. He gets a good jump
on the pitcher and attempts to steal home.
As he slides across the plate, the pitch hits
him. The catcher picks up the ball and throws
to third to get the runner out. The manager ]
of the team on the field claims there should be
two outs: one for out at third and one for thethe out at third and one for the
pitch hitting the runner - he claims interference
on Henderson for never letting the pitched ball get
to the plate. Is this correct?????????

    Re: Answer to previous question.

I had no right answers!!! In the first case the runner is safe.
The rules say that a fielder must have control of the ball with
his hand or a glove. Covering the ball over his jersey with his
hand does not constitute having control so the runner is safe.

In the 2nd case the runner is OUT! A fielder is allowed to throw
his glove with the ball in it to a base and the baseman can catch
it just like a thrown ball!!!!

	What would you call when...
The Sox have runners on first and second with one out in the bottom of the
seventh inning. The game is tied so the Indians are expecting the bunt.
Len Barker goes into the stretch, checks the runners, and decides that
the runner is too far off the bag at first. Meanwhile, the first baseman
is anticipating the pitch and starts to charge the plate for the bunt.
Barker wheels to throw to first, sees the first baseman charging, and,
thinking quickly, throws to him halfway between home and first. What
would you call and why????????

	What do you call when...
There is a runner on third base with nobody out. A fly ball is hit to
left field. The runner watches intently as the fielder runs hard to the
line to catch the ball. As soon as the ball hits the fielder's glove,
the runner is off towards home. But the fielder is running so hard that
the ball hits the heel of his glove and bounces off. He recovers quickly
to make the catch but by this time the runner is halfway home. The
fielder throws to third base and the third baseman tags the base. Is
the runner safe or out and why??????????

Re: My last question about the 3-2 game.

I had 7 responses and only 2 right answers.
The game is over. The home team loses 3-2. The rules
say that no runs score during any play in which the third out
is made on the batter/runner before he gets to 1st.
The batter is not out when he strikes out since the
catcher did not hold on to the ball. Thus when the
pitcher tags him, he becomes the third out and none of
the runs count!!!!!!!!!

From now on, I will post the answers with the
  questions to avoid confusion!!
Here is an interesting situation. What happens
if there are no runners on base and nobody out
and the batter pops to the second baseman who,
being a hot dog, catches the ball in his hat???
