I am going to go out on the limb and pick the Cleveland Indians to win the American League East this year. They have a good starting rotation of Sutcliffe, Barker and Blyleven and if Sorensen or Waits can come through in the 4th/5th spots they'll have it made. Spillner is as good a reliever as there is in the A.L. There starting lineup is solid with Harrah and Hargrove at the corners, Hassey and Bando behind the plant and Trillo at second. Julio Franco is a ? at short, but scouts say he is a "can't miss" prospect. Nobody compares to Manning in center, and Bake McBride has a year or 2 left in right. Left field is another ? but Vukovich has been playing pretty good so far. Thornton is among the best DH's in the league. Nobody said much about them in pre-season, but I think they are as talented as anybody. R. Barry ihuxt!barry

Of course the Indians have a great infield. They stole them from the Phillies. Imnagine, they have Bake McBride, Manny (Golden Glove) Trillo, Franco, and a bunch of minor leagers. All of this talent for Bo Diaz (he's good not not that good) and Van Hayes, who midded opening day forcing Pete (I'll play anywhere!) to start in right field.
