This Day in Dodger History:

1909    Leon Ames of the NY Giants no-hit the
        Brooklyn Dodgers for 9 2/3 innings on
        opening day, but lost, 3-0, in 13 innings!

1947    Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier
        in major league sports when he started at
        first base for the Dodgers and was 0-3 at
        the plate. The Dodgers beat the Boston 
        Braves 5-3 at home, and Robinson scored the
        deciding run.

1958    The Dodgers and the Giants played each other
        in the first major league game played on the
        west coast.( The Giants won, 8-0, at SF's Seal
        Stadium.)

1983    Steve Garvey returns to Dodger Stadium this
        weekend, where he is likely to break the  
        National League consecutive game record
        of 1,117 held by Billy Williams. He will tie
        the record tonight.
