Well, it`s finally over. The Royals win the first ever Pine Tar Classic. A whole 1300 people showed up to see 2/3rds of an inning of baseball. But how about that Billy Martin? He tried to get Brett called out for not touching second base. Ingenious idea. But how about that Lee MacPhail anticipating Billy and getting an affidavit from the umpires to say that Brett did in fact touch all the bases? Smart move, big guy. The thing that really got me is how those dumb lawsuits could move so quickly through the courts, when your typical case takes at least a month to be initially heard.
