I rechecked my predictions and I think only was has been proven wrong thusfar: All Baltimore losses will be at the hands of Steve Carlton. The others still hold potential; remember Murray's performance in the 1979 world series in relation to slumps? Cosell serves a distinct purpose: He gives us all someone to hate and to flame about. This comes in the defense of Howie Cosell. I think he is interesting and sometimes informative. He has a personality and I never could understand why so many people hated him. I also feel that Brent Musburger (sp?) is very annoying. He knows squat about basketball and he constantly iritates me with his voice and style. He has got no personality and I cannot see his appeal at all. Anybody out there agree at all with me?? Andy Andres, AT&T Consumer Products Labs, Neptune NJ ...houxo!lpa

I like Howard Cosell though he sometimes acts like a schmuck. (Who's going to cast the first stone? Surely not I.) There's more to intelligent sportscasting than knowing the ins and outs of sports strategy, and I think Howard is a colorful character and a good journalist, though he wouldn't be as good a manager as Earl Weaver. Though he's the butt of many jokes, he's generally well respected. Sort of like Ed Sullivan was. They seem kind of spaced out, but you can't get where they got being spaced out. Then again, I think that David Letterman is entertaining, so that tells you something about my sense of taste. Andy Tannenbaum Masscomp Inc. Littleton MA (617) 486-9581
