The votes have been counted, and the electors have chosen 3 baseball greats to be inducted into the baseball Hall Of Fame. First is a man who powered over 550 homers in his carrer with the Washington Senators/Minnesota Twins, Harmon Killebrew. He may not have had a high average, but sure could hit a ball out of the park. I think he ranks 5th in all-time homers (Let`s see - Aaron, Ruth, Mays, Robinson, Killebrew, Mantle, Foxx, Williams, Matthews, Banks, Ott - I think I missed somebody). Next is Sandy Koufax`s right hand man, Don Drysdale. What a pair of hurlers! Over 200 wins, and a stretch of 58 scoreless innings, the record. Oh, there`s a trivia question - Who ALMOST broke the string of scoreless innings, and who actually broke it. Finally, a man who waited long enough, Louie Aparicio! So he didn`t have a great average - I bet it`s close to Killebrew`s - but could he cover ground at shortstop! A defensive genious. He also had great speed, and stole a few bases in his time. He had the White Sox season record till this year, I believe. This could lead the way to a few more defensive all-stars to make it in, like Nellie Fox. It`s good to know that in the dead of winter, with -20 wind chills, the thoughts of the national pasttime can warm a man`s heart. Tom O`Connor
