[net.sport.baseball] The killer and Mr. Miller

bradley@princeton.UUCP (01/12/84)

I was interested by Harmon's comment that the toughest pitcher
for him was Stu Miller. That's the second time Miller's name
came up in the last few months. The first was a quote in SI
from one of the Phillies' coaches, Dave Bristol I believe, that
Mike Boddicker reminded him of Stu Miller. Does anyone else
have any Stu Miller commentary?

Stu Miller was the pitcher who was blown off of the mound by a gust of wind
in the infamous 1962 all-star game at Candlestick Park. (The fact that he
was in the all-star game should say something about his ability.)

Miller was also involved in a game in which he and another pitcher
combined for a no-hitter but lost.

Stu Miller was also the guy who had three speeds of pitch:
		Slow
		Yawn
  and zzzzzz
