Never have I seen a more worthless ballplayer. He can't run, he can't field, and he strikes out a lot. The Royals dumped a real loser on Toronto. Bruce Rodean ({ihnp4|hplabs}|hpfcla!rodean)

I don't deny that the Jays' relief pitchers let them down, but I don't think they had the pennant in their hand. I think it was a case of a good young team suprising people for longer than expected, but then they faded due to lack of experience and less talent than some other teams. The Orioles won the pennant by individually beating up on every other contender in the East in late August and September, not by the Blue Jays' handing it to them. I do think that Toronto will be tougher; it should be another good race this year. Go O's! -- Call-Me: Pete Cottrell, Univ. of Md. Comp. Sci. Dept. I have to remind you that the Jays were in first place until August(?) in which they lost a number of important games in the 9th and 10th innings, including games to thye O's.
