[net.sport.baseball] Misc. musings - Tigers, Cubs

I`m surprised the Detroit fans out there haven`t been roaring
about their Tigers. While Baltimore is slow to start, the
Tigers are playing great ball, still undefeated. This is
supposed to be THE YEAR for the Tigers, the 5th year of their
5-year plan. I saw Morris toss his no-hitter vs the W. Sox,
and though he wasn`t awesome, he certainly did the job. I
mean when you get the bases loaded with 0 out and get Luzinski
to hit into a double play, you`re doing your job.
I also thought Sparky was a genius bringing in Bergman as a defensive
replacement in the late innings. He made a couple great saves.
And Morris was right there to cover first. This team is
for real, and didn`t get the credit they should have last season.

On the home front, the Cubbies start their home opener right
about at .500, and with a few breaks could`ve been 6-1.
Matthews is doing a great job at the plate. With Denier out
youngster Henry Cotto showed some super defensive work in center
field, and will certainly make Denier work for his spot.
And we even had Ryne Sandburg steal home! Now let`s see how
they do in the friendly confines vs. the surprising Mets.
