[net.sport.baseball] LETS GO METS

mp@ganehd.UUCP (Scott Barman @ Univ. of Ga.) (04/22/84)

Wow!!! I never realized there were so many METS fans out there in netland!
This is good! We must all stick together and visit the local ballpark whenever
the METS liven up the town. I just recently did this in Atlanta! I loved it!
Darryl Stawberry's homer could have been seen from downtown, it was that high!

About Beautiful Shea:
I remember going to a summer time double-header in 1964 in Shea. I was
impressed with it then, and impressed with it now. It is of a fairly unique
design and home of the METS (to hell with the Jets). Let them clean it up a
bit (I heard it needs it) and play ball. I only long for the day I can
make it to NY to attend a game there (last time I was there was on 7/4/81).
The only stadium I have been impressed with more than Shea, is the
OLD Yankee Stadium (I have been to Atlanta, Philly - Even Connie Mack Stad.,
Pittsburg, Chicago- Wrigley Field only, Boston, and Baltimore). The reason for
this is a sense of history. Go to Cooperstown and see where alot of the
pictures there have been taken, Yankee Stadium. All the great players that
have played there. It was a sad day in NY sports history when that ass from
Florida bought the team and conned Lindsey to have the city "re-build" THE
House that Ruth Built!

Cub Fans:
What rebuilding year is this? Dallas Green (who once played for the
Mets, Cubs, and Phillies) is an idiot. What makes you think that you can
win with retread players and NO CONSISTANT PITCHING! I still say they have the
lock on last place this year!

All others:
I would like to see the Mets win (realistically, don't think so -
I also hope I have a chance to eat those words :->), but watch out!
I don't think they are going to be cellar dwellars either!

Brave Fans:
	Wait 'till next year!!!!

A Mets Fan since 1962 and proud of it,
