Well, I just read that Detroit has not and will not play
Baltimore, Tornonto, Milwaukee, New York (and I'm not sure
about Boston) until JUNE! No wonder they are doing so well, they've
played all western teams. Geez, looking at last year's results of
the Western Division, I say the Tigers have performed well but not
incredibly. Baltimore will beat them out in the end.

Actually as of the middle of next week, everyone in the AL East, with the
exception of Cleveland, will have played only the Indians and one other team in
the East. Detroit has already played Boston, Baltimore has played Toronto, and
New York has played Milwaukee. Boston/Toronto is the only difference in the
teams the Tigers and Os have played, not counting the order of teams played on
their current West Coast swings. So the Tigers are about 10 games better than
Baltimore against common opponents (as a Yankee fan I haven't been paying that
close attention to the standings :-o). Of course they have 13 games coming
against each other, but my guess is that the Tigers will hold their own. They
still haven't lost on the road, and the Orioles have played the same schedule
they have.

I should have majored in schedule reading!

If Detriot keeps up this pace much longer, by June No team may be able
to catch them, because all they will have to do is play 500 ball for the
rest of the season to win > 100 games.
