[net.sport.baseball] Lights in Chicago, why?

mp@ganehd.UUCP (Scott Barman @ Univ. of Ga.) (06/20/84)

<Who are the Cubs?>

Why would they even consider putting lights in Chicago. Two games back, they
might begin their choke now and not wait until September! Face it Cub Fans,
in their last two attempts for Eastern Division Crowns, who beat them out of
it? Yessiree, it was them New York Mets in 1969 and 1973. They couldn't even
beat Philly last weekend!

Time for my yearly pet peeve:
THE MOST OVERATED PLAYER IN THE NATIONAL LEAGUE:
Steve Sax, L.A. (they should have changed the name when they
moved) D******. If he gets the starting position in the All-Star Game,
I'll screem!!!!!! He is a walking error attack!
THE MOST UNDERATED PLAYER (or at least second baseman) IN THE NATIONAL
	LEAGUE:
Glen Hubbard, Atlanta Braves. Now, people should know by now
that this transplanted New Yorker can't stand the Braves! However, if
Steve Sax gets the starting position in the All-Star Game, Glen Hubbard
should win MVP! It just goes to show you can't trust LA!

THE ANNUAL "EGG ON YOUR FACE" AWARD:
Joe Torre and the Atlanta Braves. Phil Niekro is 10-3 and doing well
pitching for the Yankees. Knuckle 'em under, Phil!

THE NEXT MANAGER OF THE NY YANKEES:
Yes, folks, the continuing soap opera in the Bronx Zoo is going to get
interesting. While Yogi will finish the season as manager ("It ain't
over 'till it's over"), he will not be manager next year. Recently
retired as a player, now 1st base coach, Lou Pinnella will get the job
for next year. I hate to see that happen to such a nice guy.

ORANGE LINE RULE AT SHEA STADIUM:
I forgot who asked, but, yes the rule still exists.

Well, as of this posting, the Mets are .5 games out and playing Philly this
week! LETS GO METS!

Still hating the Braves in Athens, Ga:

Quote from Howard Cosell during Monday Night Baseball:

"Well, I have news for the Yankees. It's over."

I hear they may be moving to New Jersey. Babe Ruth is probably turning
over in his grave over this.
