The great thing about the Democratic convention is that we will be able to see the METS play every night the convention is on.:~) At least here in WOR land. Watched them last night as they brought out the new kid, Sid Fernandez. He did a fair job for a first timer. The funny things were that he balked with a guy on third, and then, after getting a hit ( his very first ), he turned toward second after touching first. He got tagged out as he ambled back to the bag. Since this was his first real outing ( he once pitched a couple of innings for the Dodgers at the end of the season a few years ago) he really looked nervous. On the other side, the METSIES punched out 22 hits against the lowest ERA pitching in the NL. It looked like it was raining baseballs in the outfield. Davey J said awhile back that, "Just wait till we start hitting". If this is the way they hit against good pitching, I can't wait until they come up against poor pitching. T. C. Wheeler
