I find it extremely hard to believe that the Braves would hit a batter
because they felt he had "showed them up" stealing bases the game before.
Why would they put him on base intentionally if they were were afraid of
being "shown up" by a base stealer?
I don't think Perez is a dirty player (or GARBAGE). I am sure that his antics
on the mound do irritate some players and fans alike, but for the most part,
his actions add to the game.
As far as Perez hiding in the dugout, did anyone see Craig Lefferts getting
into the brawl? I didn't, all I saw was him heading toward his dugout too,
and I never saw him throw a punch, just the beanball.
It's a shame that San Diego didn't give up on the idea of hitting Perez
earlier, after they missed him time and time again. It showed Dick
Williams' true colors. I used to respect the man, but not anymore.
I am also disappointed that Donnie Moore felt the need to hit a Padre batter in
the ninth. I hate to see anyone stoop to the level of Williams. I hope for
the sake of baseball, this doesn't continue in San Diego and then again in
Atlanta.
