[net.sport.baseball] night games at Wrigley

What is all this talk about post-season games at Wrigley field?
Don't you know they will be played at Shea?
Just wait until the amazing ones start their September
drive. Then Detroit will have to come to the Big Apple!

first of all, since the Mets will win the NL East, the question of
playoff games at Wrigley field will not be important

second, aren't there Cubs fans who work during the day who would
prefer to have some night games so that they could see their team
play?

This one I can't let go by without a comment.

Of course there are Cubs fans that work (or take up space at some place
that pays them :-}). And of course these fans would like to see night
baseball at Wrigley so they could go see their team play. But since
these people are fans, they also don't want their team penalized just
because they don't have lights in their park! If the Cubs are forced
to install lights at Wrigley, then they should be allowed to do it
during the off season, so they can parctice there a while, and then
play the whole season under the lights (this, of course, does nothing to
solve the current problem, but is only fair!). Installing lights just
for the playoffs and World Series (if either, or both, happens) is
ludicrous. No team can be expected to play the most important games
of the season, and maybe their lives, under strange lighting in their
own park! What would Mets or Phillies or Padres or... fans say if the
lights in their parks were suddenly moved, or changed to a different
type just before the playoffs? I bet they wouldn't be happy!

Oh well, enough of the light conversation :-}

P.S.  To Dan Rokhsar;
Dan... I didn't pick on your article out of any malice. I had just
read enough of this discussion that I couldn't keep silent any longer.

In answer to "aren't there Cubs fans who work during the day who
would prefer ...night games..."

	It's worth using up my vacation days to see them play the
		way they always play..... during the day!
