A brief in yesterday's Trenton Times noted that New York City had
given up installing artificial turf in Shea, as doing so would require
the placement of a four foot foundation under the surface (apparently
due to swampy conditions). City officials were reported to be
concerned that it would now be more difficutlt to attract a football
franchise.
However, as far as I'm concerned, it's cause for celebration. Grass
remains the proper surface for the most rural of major sports.
