[net.sport.baseball] More on Hall of Fame Voting

I think the selections of Wilhelm and Brock were very deserving.
Hoyt appeared in over 1000 games! And he didn`t have that bad of
an E.R.A. either. Brock`s speed and SB records stand for themselves.
Also, he was pretty good at the plate, and fared very well in
his Series appearences.

I feel sorry that Nellie Fox didn`t get in. A sparkplug of a
2nd baseman. He got 74.6%, but the Hall wouldn`t round off the
percentage, and so we`ll just have to wait for the Old-Timers
committe to choose him.

Billy Williams moved closer to what should be his inevitable
selection. .290 lifetime, over 400 homers, good speed and defense,
over 1000 consecutive games played at one point. Sweet swinging
Billy should get in in the very near future.

I am still appalled that Roger Maris is getting as many votes as he
has. The rules state a person shouldn`t be elected for single season
achievments. So he had a great 1961! I`d like to hear more on this
one. I really never saw him play, except a game or 2 when he was
finishing up in St. Louis.

Does anyone happen to have a list of how the voting went?
I`m interested in who else got how many votes.

P.S. So Stoddard, who didn`t want to keep setting up for a reliever,
signs with S.D., so now he can set up for the Goose!
