>My 1985 Baseball Predicitions: (Be nice to me. I've been away for 2 years!) >AL East >Toronto 98-64 >Detroit 97-65 >New York 94-68 >Boston 92-70 >Milwaukee 90-72 >Baltimore 85-77 >Cleveland 81-81 Comment: Milwaukee has fallen on lean times the last couple years and aren't as good as they once were. The same can be said for New York though to a lesser extent. Toronto and Detroit will indeed battle it out for first. Milwaukee will pull up the rear. The other four teams will battle it out for third. >AL West >Kansas City 82-80 >Minnesota 80-82 >Chicago 75-87 >Seattle 71-91 >California 68-94 >Oakland 63-99 >Texas 58-104 Comment:Kansas City and Chicago will fight it out for first. Somewhere around the 87-88 win mark. Minnesota will take third and we won't discuss the other teams. >NL East >Chicago 101-62 >New York 100-63 >St. Louis 83-79 >Philadelphia 77-85 >Montreal 74-88 >Pittsburgh 69-93 comment: Chicago and New York will both win more games than last year. New York's young pitching corp will have more experience and Chicago will have their pitching staff for the entire year. Outcome will probably depend on injuries to key personel. It is reasonable to expect both teams to reach the 100 win mark. The other four teams will all end up with 85-90 losses. St. Louis losing Sutter will pull them down near the bottom. By the way, the season is still 162 games, not 163. Unless you're counting the one game playoff to settle the tie. >NL West >Los Angeles 89-73 >San Diego 85-77 >Houston 84-78 >San Francisco 80-82 >Cincinnati 66-96 >Atlanta 65-97 comment: Los Angeles just doesn't have enough to challenge anymore. They will fight it out for third with San Fran and Houston. Atlanta with the acquisition of Sutter will vault into instant contention with San Diego for the division title. Cincinnati will quickly fall way off the pace. Robert
