[net.sport.baseball] Met pitching

As a big Met fan, I have to agree that their pitching is their weakness
(who would have though it after last year). Can someone out there
explain to me WHY Terell was traded for Howard Johnson. Okay, Knight
was hurt and a question mark, but trading your #3 pitcher for an
ice cream cone?? Especially with Byereni hurting too.

The way I see it the Met's need 3 starting pitchers out of 6 possibles,
Lynch, Byereni, Schraldi, Fernandez (now back in AAA), and those 2 other
guys down in AAA who's names excape me right now. It wouldn't hurst to
hvae a 4th one who can pitch long relief.

I still think the Met's will pull it out, but regardless, it's fun just
having them in the running. I'm sure the Cubs will be there all year long
also, especially with their pitching staff. It should be a great
pennant race.

I agree with your statement concerning Walt Terrel. I thought
he showed some pretty decent stuff last year. I sure was annoyed
when they traded him. I was also annoyed when the Yankees traded
Jay Howell. The Yankees are really paying for it now (so long,
 Yogi).
