Even though I have to admire Rose for his consistency and durability over the years (he averaged over 200 hits per season in the 70's), I still have to say he is an ___. At least since he left Cincy he's been that way. I remember his first year with the Phillies. He reached base over 300 times that season, and had a BA of .331. When the media asked him why the Phils didn't win the pennant, his response was something like: "I had my best year. I don't want to blame Greg Luzinski or anybody, but I did my job." Then he rattled off all of his stats for the year, many of which little kids don't even care about. That doesn't sound like a team player to me. It sounds like a *&$%# ___. It would be hard for him to give up going for Ty Cobb's record, but as manager of the Reds he should be playing the younger players. It seems to me that the Reds have quite a few good young players, and Rose is next to useless as an offensive player. His defense was useless years ago. I personally hate Petey, and wouldn't have wanted him on my team even when he was a valuable player. Dave Van Handel
