[net.sport.baseball] maple leaf, etc.

In response to the person who wanted to know what the maple leaf on the Jay's
uniform symbolizes:

  >> The maple leaf is the symbol of Canada <<

and appears on their flag.

As a slight contribution to the 'what sport is most desireable for the good
athlete' debate: a few years ago, Danny Ainge was a very hot prospect for
the Jays, but decided basketball would be more fun... the Celtics and Jays
had quite a court battle over that, and Ainge is still with the Celts.

and finally.... no, the 16 runs scored by the Phillies in the first two
innings against the Mets last night were not a record... in the early 50's
there was a game in Ebbets field in which one of the clubs (I think the
Dodgers opponent) scored 17 in the first!!
