Replace <this manager> with <that manager>
Well, things have gotten back to being a little more normal; the Orioles
broke their 5-game losing streak with an 8-3 victory over the Brewers. As
expected, the O's canned Joe Altobelli in the afternoon and announced that
Earl Weaver would be back on Friday; Cal Ripken Sr. managed tonight (and
one could observe slight differences in moves by Ripken as opposed to Joe;
perhaps Ripken was lucky, but the moves worked and convinced some people
that the front-office boys just might be right. Ripken is tutored in the
Earl Weaver school of thought...).
As for myself, I broke my 2-game losing streak at the stadium; I had
driven to both of those games, so tonight my friend drove (we had a
2-game winning streak in his car) and as I said, things were better. A
silly little superstition, I agree, but I know I'm not the only one.
When Earl is back for the first time tomorrow, there is a very good chance
that Ripken, and not Earl, will bring the lineup card to the plate, simply
because he brought it up tonight, after which the Birds finally won.

It seems as though it was a good move to bring back Earl. The O's have done nothing but win convincingly in his three outings back. Sorry Joe, but Earl is a genius...
