[net.sport.baseball] Interesting Event

Since some poeple like interesting occurrences I thought
I'd post this one.

Last Saturday at County Stadium in Milwaukee, Seattle was
in town to play the Brewers (by the way - Bernie Brewer
got his walking papers this year - so the Brew Crew does
not have a mascot. The Barrel is gone also). Anyway,
Mariner Stormin' Gorman Thomas clouted atowering shot to left
and the fans cheered until Gorman came out for a tip of the cap.
After three years the fans of Wisconsin still love Gorman.
My point is, how many times do you see a visiting player
have to come out of the dug out to tip his cap? Sure if
an opposing pitcher strikes out his 3000th, or a batter
hits his 500th, but this was just for hitting a regular
home run. I know that Pittsburgh loves Richie Hebner (now
of the Cubs), but Milwaukee it totally loyal to Gorman.

Side note: Gorman hit another homerun in that game, and
the fans went wild, but he didn't come out again, of course.
Also he hit another on Sunday and it hit about 6 feet away from
me. I think he likes Milwaukee as much as Milwaukee likes him.
