*** REPLACE THIS DH IN YOUR LINEUP *** During the All-Star game last nite, the announcers mentioned about Bert Blyleven wanting to be traded from Cleveland. I think I heard them say that he would have to clear AL waivers first. I don't get it! Is this because he wants to be traded to the NL? I hadn't heard that he wanted to leave the AL, he just wants to join a winning team. Would someone please clear this up? Mike Clifford

Would someone > please clear this up? > > Mike Clifford ] You are right about Blyleven wanting to be traded to a winning team. ] He never said that it had to be a National League team. If he is to ] be traded to the N.L. he would have to clear waivers from all A.L. ] teams. I don't see EVERY team in the A.L. passing on Blyleven. So look ] to see some team low in pitching getting him. BUT... does he have the ] 10 year minimum to cancel a trade? He is in his last year of his ] contract and if say Cleveland wants him, he can say no way, finish ] out his last year, become a free agent, and sign anywhere (N.L.) ] ] ] bob nebert ] sdcsvax!bmcg!bobn
