Well, it seems now that the strike is over, enthusiasm has waned for the poll, so here are the results: Against the Players: 6 26.0 % Against the Owners : 4 17.3 % For the Players : 1 4.3 % For the Owners : 0 0.0 % Against Both : 8 34.7 % Don't Know/Care/Hot Dog: 4 17.3 % It seems that almost everyone was against the strike (only 1 vote "For" anybody), which is understandable. I thought maybe more netters would be against the players, which seemed to be the general consesus here in Chicago, but it looks like netters were just against the strike period. Thanks for all who responded. Oh, I also had 1 vote "For the Fans", which I'm sure I would have gotten more often if I had listed it as one of the choices. Re: Jim Frey - I saw the same game with the questionable decisions and I agree they seemed (and seem) poor judgement. BUT I still think that Jim Frey is a good manager. I like his style and for the most part his decisions. That specific game was terrible, but I think I would disagree with any manager at some time. This just was not to be the Cubs year. Re: Davey Johnson - the Mets manager sure spouted off a lot during this weekend's Cubs series. One: he joked that the Cubs might have a chance against Gooden since Gooden isn't as effective during the day, and then he commented that the Cubs shouldn't complain about injuries because "the good teams play through injuries". First: I don't think the Cubs have complained TOO much about injuries considering, and Second: people who pop off should watch out in the end. Last: The Brewers just got through a 5 game winning streak allowing them io climb at one point within 18 games of the Blue Jays. Watch out ...-:) Jon Hanrath ihnp4!ltuxa!jmh
