[net.sport.baseball] several notes

I saw someone get charged with an error for letting a playable foul ball
drop, during Sunday's Mets-Dodgers game. Only the discussion here made
me remember the incident.

Interesting that the Reds-Cubs game was declared a tie, so as to let
Pete Rose's two hits count now towards the record, and remove any doubt
as to which hit broke the record.

Who has 150+ wins, and 2000+ hits? Good Heavens, was this done in this
century? How about Red Lucas of the Cincinatti Reds. I know he is a pitcher
with a lifetime .300 to .310 batting average, and is third all-time in
pinch hits, and did sometimes play positions other than pitcher. Well
that's my guess. Denton True (Cy) Young would have had to bat .625 in
his 800 games to have made 2000 hits.

Looking for a new topic now that Carter-Pena is past. How about who was
the worst second baseman of all-time Ed Delahanty, or Zeke "The dumbest
man to ever play baseball" Benura. Neither played second full time, but
both were bad there. (Worse than Danny Ainge would have been).
