Trivia time (well, sort of): What teams, currently active, have never made it to post-season play? I don't have a definite answer, but I have thought of just 3, but of course, that may go to 2 after this season. --Evan Marcus -- {ucbvax|decvax}!vax135!petsd!petfe!evan ...!pedsgd!pedsga!evan So what if it's dangerous...as long as it's fun.

The teams are Toronto, Texas, and Seattle. If you'd care to add another little trivia question to this; what are the teams that have not made it to the World Series excluding the three above? For all you whiz bangs out there, forget about Atlanta, since they made it as the Milwaukee and Boston franchises. That still leaves three more. \ / |\\ / | | \| | | |\ | | | \| John B. Well, the only ones that I can think of are the Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners, and the Toronto Blue Jays. The Expos made it during the strike year I think. Bob Jordan Trivia question- Who is the only player to win at least 150 games as a pitcher and get at least 2000 hits? He's in the Hall of Fame, and it ain't the Babe.

When was the last time Houston or the Angels won a penant?

>When was the last time Houston or the Angels won a penant?
The Astros won the West in 1980 but lost to the Phillies in
the playoffs (possibly the most exciting playoff series ever).
I think the Angels have won the division once and lost in the
playoffs (to the O's). I'm not sure what year but it was about
3-4 years ago.
Neither of them has ever been to a World Series however.

The Angels won the AL west in the late 70's; I believe it was 1979 and
they lost to Baltimore. I'm not sure if they've won their division other
than that.
Houston played Philly in the playoffs in the early 80's (1980, I believe).

The Angels lost to the Orioles in the 1980 LCS, and went up 2-0 on Milwaukee in the 1982 LCS, only to lose three straight and miss the Series. I think the Angels are the oldest team in the major leagues not to have made a Series appearance, tho I'm pretty sure there are several teams that have not appeared in a Series since before the Angels were formed. I am not real optimistic about their chances this year, but they're still my team, and I'll root for 'em til they put me into the ground. A transplanted Californian, Mark Modig ihnp4!sfmag!mom

They blew a two games to none lead in that series. By the way, neither the Mariners nor the Blue Jays have made it into post season play. The only other franchise that I can think of that has never made it to post-season play is Texas. Montreal has never won a pennant but did appear in the NLCS in 1981 (year of the strike). They lost to the Dodgers in that series. -- /\ /\ / \/^\ /\ /\/\/\ /^\ /\ /^/\^\ /\ Al Gates\^/ \/\ / \/ \/\/ \/\ / ^ \/ \^^^\ BDM Corporation \/\ /^\ / {seismo, rlgvax}!bdmrrr!gates \ /\ \ 7915 Jones Branch Drive\/ \ \ / \ / \ \ McLean, Virginia 22102 \ \ \/ \/ \ \ \ \ \^^\ (My opinions do not necessarily reflect those of the BDM Corporation) \
