[net.sport.baseball] KC Wins, and the AL West

Some comments,

Congratulations to the 1985 World Series Champion Kansas City Royals.
KC has been a bridesmaid many times in previous years and it is great to see
them finally win it all.
What is truly amazing is that not only did a team from the "INFERIOR"
league win the World Series, but that team is also from the "WORST" division
in baseball. The so-called AL Worst has produced this years World Series
Champion! See what can happen when the riffraff is invited to the big dance.

Also, the question has come up recently about the last time that two
teams from the same state have competed in the World Series. The year is
1974. In 1974, the Oakland A's defeated the LA Dodgers in 5 games to win the
World Series. I have not seen this posted yet, but if it has I apologize.
By the by, that was the last time that an AL West team won the Series. In
fact, the only other time that an AL West team was even IN the World Series
since 1974 was the KC Royals in 1980 when they lost to Philadelphia. Since
divisional play began in 1969, the AL West has only won 5 out of 17 ALCS, not
a very impressive record. (Maybe AL Worst is the correct name after all!)
Oh well, congrats to both the Royals and the Cards for great seasons.
It has been an enjoyable baseball season once again.
