Trades! The Tigers already have made one move by trading right-handed pitcher Juan Berenguer, catcher Bob Melvin and the infamous player- to-be-named-later to the Giants for left-handed pitcher Dave LaPoint, catcher Matt Nokes and pitcher Eric King. "Tigers Stripes" quotes BASEBALL AMERICA as rating Nokes and King the third- and tenth-best prospects respectively in the Giants organization. Bob Melvin was easily one of the top five Tiger prospects and perhaps Craig can coax Berenguer back to his 1984 level of performance. How do Giant fans view this exchange? One rumor reported in "Tigers Stripes" has Detroit interested in giving up a front-line pitcher (Walt Terrell) to Cincinnati for a third-baseman (Nick Esasky) and/or a left-fielder (Gary Redus). Any reaction from Red fans on this proposal? -- Doug Dickerson UUCP !sdcsvax!noscvax!douglas MILNET douglas@nosc
