For those of you not fortunate enough to listen to Jack Buck - the Cardinal
announcer - during the regular season: the above two quotations are probably
Jack Buck's most famous lines. Jack says the first line after the final
out (or winning run) in a Cardinal victory and the second line when he signs
off at the very end of a broadcast.
By the way, Jack Buck is announcing the World Series on the network radio.
It is truly a pleasure listening to him. And its not because of his Cardinal
loyalty: he has been quite objective. He's just such a terrific announcer.

PS:
Although he has been quite objective, last night - right after the last out
in Tudor's victory - Buck said, "... and that's a [slight pause] St. Louis
Cardinal winner!" Even when excitement almost overpowered his objectivity,
he was able to bounce back.

Andujar showed more class than the minor league umpires.

I can't believe someone posted this.
1) In game 6, the call at first probably was wrong, but to say that it
cost the Cards the GAME, let alone the series is inaccurate. The Royals
still got two hits after the call, and scored with only one out. Not only
that, but one doesn't remember the close ball and strike calls that went
against Leibrandt early in the game. Conclusion: The umps call 90% of
calls correctly, and they do not lose ball games for clubs.

2) The two ball-and-strike calls on Andujar were inside, and at least from
the angle given in the replays, weren't close. I felt sorry that Herzog
had to get thrown out for protecting Andujar, but Andujar was just a
disgrace. I thought the rest of the team (Smith, Pendleton) showed some
class by holding Andujar back and notice that not one of them complained
to the umps.

3) Umps especially don't lose Series for teams that bat .185.

I was surprised that the commish could only fine Andujar $500. I'm
sure it would have been more if possible.

I feel that the call at first in game 6 did more damage mentally to the
Cardinals than anything. The Cards looked very demoralized the rest of the
series. But don't get me wrong, I agree with you that umps do not loose ball
games for clubs, I just haven't seen anything posted about this effect.
