Three items/questions have been raised recently. Here's my six cents worth: 1. If Gedman interferes with Mattingly, Gedman is charged with an error, Mattingly reaches 1st, but he is NOT charged with an at-bat. Yes, this is different than if Mattingly had hit the ball and a fielder had committed an error. If Boggs and Mattingly finish with the same average, they SHARE the batting title. After all, the batting title is based on PERCENTAGE, not hits. No - I don't have an answer to the question that was posed. 2. I read in a newspaper that the fan who fell out of the stands in Toronto was pushed. He was not drunk. When he realized he was lying on the field, he decided it would be less embarrassing to be carried off the field than to climb back in the stands. When he realized they were taking him to a hospital, he told them he was alright. I believe he went back and watched the remainder of the game. 3. The PLAYERS do not make any more money in a 7-game series than they do in a 4-game series. The PLAYERS' SHARE is based on just the first four games. The leagues, owners, etc. obviously do share in the proceeds of all games played. But the players have no incentive to drag the series out. Here's one Yankee fan, saying "Wait 'till next year!!!" -- Steve Myerson, Raytheon Co. Portsmouth, RI. Find your own way here! Cute closing. Opinion disclaimer. Witty saying. Optional picture.
