[net.sport.baseball] Bill James Historical Abstract

Although I felt that the price was kind of steep ($25),
I felt compelled to get the Historical Abstract.
I don't feel cheated.
The Historical Abstract is probably the all-time great
bathroom book for baseball fans.
As a Phillies' fan, I especially enjoyed James' highly favorable
evaluation of Mike Schmidt:
 1) All-time greatest third baseman
 2) Highest all-time offensive winning percentage
 3) 13th greatest player of all-time.
I hope John Felske takes note of this analysis
before demoting Schmidt to 5th in the batting order.

What does number 2 above mean when evaluating an individual
player?
