Just as I predicted to a friend of mine here at work and to a
net.baseball.Padres fan that I correspond with, Dick Williams has
resigned from the Padres at spring training.
When he was getting jacked around last December by McKeon and
company, I said that he ought to slide through winter like nothing
was wrong, and then leave the Padres flat on their butts!! And he
did!!
Being a Braves fan, this doesn't phase me at all. Maybe the
Padres will be easier to beat this year with a new manager,
hopefully an unknown.
PS. Did you hear that Perez hasn't shown up at Braves training
camp yet? Chuck Tanner said that "I don't care if he ever shows
up. There are 20 pitchers at camp, and any of them could have won
1 game" (referring to Perez' 1-13 record last year). Also, Bob
Horner came to camp early to start working out--great!!
Give em hell, Chuck.
Go Braves!!!
