Well, about floating eyes: My impression was that the floating eye was a watered down beholder. Now, then, a beholder can do several things, one of which is turn you to stone. Perhaps that is what's happening? If so, there should be hold person spells<paralysis, sound familar>, disintegration<never saw it>, death<never...>, anti-magic<never noticed>, and a few others. Ken?? Am I completely wrong? I'm trying to defend you. <After all, an E has NO physical attack, so it better have some noticible defence if it is to be considered non-extinct> <P.S. A beholder is from Gary Gigax's role playing game, you know, THAT one!>
