Are there any Illini fans among the net-users in the Champaign- Urbana area who would be willing to keep me (and others who are interested) posted on UI football? Quotes from the News-Gazette would suffice. Not having ESPN, and being in NJ, I get little more than the scores. Incidentally, how many other interested UI fans are out there? Please reply by mail. Loren Tate implied he ran somewhat of a pro training camp this year. They had a lot of drop outs of top prospects, but the ones who survived are going to make it one hell of a team. They are going to give the top teams major fits. The pro scouts are staying for extended periods now whereas in the past they would just give the Illini team a day of their time. Illinois will have several all big ten this year, with several serious contenters for All-American. With the receivers they have, it'll be an explosive team. The Pit game will probably be regionally televised. The Michigan State game may also be televised. I would suggest you subscribe to the News Gazette during the fall as Loren Tate is one of the best small paper reporters. I have lived in several major cities and he makes most of the major sports writers look bad. He is rare in that if he makes a statement, he will provide the reasoning for what he says. Unique that a small paper has such a quality reporter.
