Zen and The Martial Arts "Mind Over Body" Zen Master Kyung Hur(1849-1912)and his disciple Man Kong (1871-1946)had been traveling under the hot Korean sun for over a month before they reached the base of a steep mountain. Their destination was a village on the other side. Man Kong slumped silently to the ground and buried his head in his hands. What is the matter with you? questioned the Master. Sir, I can't take another step, replied Man Kong. The Master spotted a farmer and his wife working in the nearby cotten field. Without disturbing Man Kong, the Master approached the wife and kissed her a few times. Instantly the farmer was filled with rage. He grabbed his sickle and began chasing the Master. The Master ran toward Man Kong screaming, brother run, we are in trouble! The farmer turned on Man Kong swinging his sickle wildly. Man Kong ran toward the mountain and stopped only when he reached the top. The Master was already at the top laughing. As Man Kong fought to catch his breath the Master asked him, are you still too tired to take another step? I was only thinking of my head, gasped Man Kong. They both laughed and started on their descent down toward the village......... ------------------------------------------- On a more serious note, presenting: Tae Kwon Do Karate' Championship 12th Annual Aurora Tri- State Invitational Sunday May 1, 1983 Aurora Collage Gymnasium 347 S.
