Relay-Version:version B 2.10 5/3/83; site harpo.UUCP Message-ID:<568@sdchema.UUCP> Date:Wed, 25-May-83 10:27:34 EDT I am interested in finding a T'ai Chi Ch'uan teacher in the Toronto area. I'm primarily interested in Cheng Man-ch'ing's short form but any info about any form or school will be greatly appreciated. For those of you who are wondering what T'ai Chi Ch'uan is, it is a method of calisthenics for health and self defense. Sometimes it is described as shadow boxing or swimming on land. It is based on the principles of effortless breathing, rhythmic movement, and weight equilibrium. It can be practiced by an individual alone in a limited space or by two opponents, one taking the offensive and the other defensive. It is generally agreed among historians that it was developed in the Sung Dynasty (960-1279 A.D.) by the famous boxer Chang San-Feng, who was also the founder of the well-known Wu Tang school of boxing. I will truly appreciate any responses on this request. Thank you for your time. Denise O'Jibway, Chemistry Department, UC San Diego {ucbvax, philabs} sdcsvax!sdchema!djo
