I still can't believe it!!! Unranked Indiana downs number one North Carolina. Well I guess nobody can say Bobby Knight is not a good choice for Olympic coach. I have to admit that from what I know about Bobby Knight I did not like him very much but I have to admire the way he got his extremely young (read unexperienced) team of players to control UNC and basically have UNC play their game. I also have to say though that after UNC lost to Duke and then turned the ball over so many times against Temple I had my doubts about their making it to the final four. It seems that Kenny Smith's injured hand played a major role in the way UNC was able or unable to handle the ball and provide a needed outside scoring threat since it seems that although Jordan can shoot from the outside he prefers to go inside and use his jumping ability (who wouldn't). Well I guess Terry Holland can say that there is a basketball program at Virginia A.R. (After Ralph). Nobody can say that at 17-11 UVa doesn't belong in the NCAA Tournament. My only question is, if you could get to the final eight without Ralph Sampson (college player of the year three years in a row) how about at least the final with Ralph? Well it is all academic now anyway. I am very impressed with Illinois' win over Maryland (the tournament winner of the best conference in the nation, the ACC) but have to say that Illinois is not the same without Efrom (sp?) Winters. A sprained ankle hurts, believe me, I sprained mine recently and I am still at about 50% after 6 days. It's not so much the strain of the tendons, it is the blood around the joint that causes the inability to move it easily. Hats off to Louisville for making it a game against in-state rival Kentucky. It was basically a battle of Kentucky's frontcourt of Turpin, Bowie, and Walker against the backcourt of Louisville of Milt Wagner and Lancaster Gordon. mhuxv!mwh Mark W. Henry AT&T Bell Laboratories
