Reported in newspapers in Bremen and Turin, Michel Platini, European and World Footballer of the year in 1984, is being transfered from Juventus to Werder Bremen for an undisclosed sum. Michel Platini stated that he always wanted to play in the Bundesliga because of how competitive it is. The Werder Bremen coach said that with Platini and Ruudi Voeller (not sp!) Werder Bremen would win thge European Cup within a couple of years. Juventus claimed that they had short term liquidity problems. The articles were dated 1 April, 1985. -- James C.
