[net.sport] Formula One

I am looking for people out in net-land that may share my interest in
Formula One, and motor sports in general. I'm willing to talk to people on
any subject dealing with auto racing, and almost any area including: F1, F3000,
F3, CART, Trans Am, NASCAR, etc.
If anyone could get me results more reliably than the local newspapers, I
would be very gratefull; it's hard waiting for Autoweek or OnTrack.

Unfortunately, it's a little late in the season. F1 has only the
South African and Australian GP's left to run, and since Alain Prost has
sewn up the championship there's little to discuss there except the
"silly season" (who's going to drive for which team next year).

CART is down to their last race (Nov 9, Miami), and the championship
is guaranteed to go to Al Unser (either Sr. or Jr.). Again, there isn't
much to talk about except "next year".

NASCAR has only 3(?) races left to run, and has the hottest championship
race with Bill Elliott only a few points behind Daryl Waltrip. There
is still something to talk about here...

As far as getting results earlier, if you have cable TV you should check
out Speedweek on ESPN (7:30 PM EDT Thursdays) and Motorweek Illustrated
on WTBS (5:35 PM EDT Saturdays). Also, ESPN has carried nearly all of
the Formula 1 races live; also most of the CART and NASCAR Grand
National races. Their CART and NASCAR coverage for the year is over.
WTBS will be carrying the last few NASCAR GN races.

Another source of information is on CompuServe. Racing Information
Service provides regular updates during each race. (Well, at least they
did a year ago when I quit using CompuServe).
