In response to the public clamor for crossreference programs, another entirely different crossref has been posted to net.sources. This one reads any number of object files and archives of object files and produces a formatted listing showing which files define or reference which external identifiers (both procedure and variable names). The posted version is for 4.1 files, although an older V7 version could be posted if anyone wants. This crossref dates from the dark days of PDP11 V6 and was specifically written to demystify the kernel, back in the days when no one knew anything (just like today) but wasn't quite so afraid to find out ... :-) Steve Haflich, MIT Experimental Music Studio decvax!genrad!mit-ems!smh
