We at NADC are currently running UNIX 4.1 BSD on a VAX 11/780 and are very
much interested in upgrading to 4.2. I am personally very interested in the
Interprocess Communication mechanisms (IPC) of 4.2.
We currently have some preliminary documentation on 4.2 and IPC, but are in
dire need of the following document:
"A 4.2BSD Interprocess Communication Primer".
Does anyone have a copy of this document or any information on how to obtain
a copy?

From: Stephen Wolff <steve@brl-bmd> Yes; we will send you a photocopy of "A 4.2bsd Interprocess Communication Primer, DRAFT of July 27, 1983" by Leffler, Fabry and Joy if you'll send your Snailmail address to schantz@brl [Sue: would you or Christal be kind enough? The document is the third one in in the second volume of the 4.2 manual Myra made. Tnx!] You might also care to correspond with Charles Hansen charlie@brl an applications programmer who has been putting together the IPC parts of a multi-player, multi-machine realtime simulation, and consequently has a good deal of experience in packet-shuffling between machines on different nets.

From: Doug Kingston <dpk@brl-vgr> Beware, the manual lies. In particular the there are some mistakes/changes in the use of the UNIX domain IPC, (AF_UNIX). Bob Miles or Ron Natalie can point you at these annomalies. -Doug-
