[net.unix] etymology of "date" error message sought

In System V (I don't know about BSD), if you invoke "date" with
any options, you get the message: "date: no TOY clock".
What is a TOY clock? Does this have anything to do with the TOY
OS some folks are inquiring about?

I believe the acronym stands for Time Of Year clock.

A TOY clock is a Time Of Year clock. Date with options
looks there to set the date.
