[net.unix] termcap entry for IBM PC?

tut@ucbopal.CC.Berkeley.ARPA (04/06/84)

Does anyone have a termcap entry for the IBM Personal Computer?
Could you post it to net.sources and/or one of the many net.term
type groups? Nothing is included on 4.2 BSD for the PC, although
there are entries for the Apple IIe and the TRS-80 Model II.

I have a FREE terminal simulation package I will
send to anyone who sends me a self addressed stamped
floppy disk. It allows the IBM-PC to become an
intelligent terminal with text upload and download,
XMODEM upload and download, and full escape sequence
cursor control that resemble (not exactly) an
HP2621. It can also simulate EXACTLY an adm3a if you
so desire. It comes with source (mostly Pascal, some
assembler), and a TERMCAP file for use with UNIX
utilities. Note: this terminal program requires that
YOU have the Async package, but the program itself
is public domain (home brewed right here!!) My

No full-screen software can be used with the terminal program that comes
with the IBM-PC. It doesn't provide any escape sequences for such
things as cursor positioning, as far as I know. You should purchase a
terminal emulation package, which would probably emulate some well-known
terminal (VT100 is a common terminal to emulate), and then tell Unix
that you are that type of terminal.

The PC flavor of DOS 2.0 has as one of it's many features
the ability to act as a ANSII standard terminal. This is done by
putting "device=ansi.sys" in your config.sys file.(page 13-2 of DOS
2.0 manual). I have a termcap entry for this running around somewhere
on my VENIX system along with the standard VT52 type PC entry that most
communications packages use. If interested, drop a note.
